About Me

Cherry L. is a dessert junkie and self-proclaimed psycho genius dreaming of world domination while creatively avoiding scandals. When not engaged in social interactions, she subconsciously slips off into a parallel universe. Easily distracted by pretty boys and strange objects. Her demonic kiasu-ness and notorious procrastination are genetic.

My Final Week of June

I have yet to fulfill my resolution of coming in time for work. In fact, it is has been getting worst since mum makes it waking up a living nightmare. How? She screams for me to wake up every morning outside my door and outside my window and I will put more effort into sandwiching my head between my pillows to escape the torture of her voice and in effect soundproof my existing 6 alarms in the process... Don't comment.

Finally, got to eat Kampar's delicious spare rib laksa tonight. I am whole again.

'Beautiful Sun'* Misun and 'Malam tak berbintang'* Me (*pet names we created for each other this week) have been trying to make progress on our ongoing career crisis by floating around the job market. I have been trying to improvise my CV for a career in Design for the past 7 hours (obviously it has been frustrating). A diploma/degree in the relevant field is highly emphasized by every potential employer.

"Even if the dog is an authentic pedigree, it will still be considered a mutt because it does not have a certificate to prove its ancestry." (replays in my mind)

It has been playing in my mind to complete at least my diploma. (And when I graduate, I'm going to make photocopies of it and paste it all over town) XD

Off the record, I am thinking of using the strategy of confusing my prospective employer with my crazy portfolio and sneak in through the 'back door' of the art industry while he is still in a daze. Like, wish me luck.

I talked with Yung today and he let me admire his stunning character designs for Digi class. So I was inspired to stalk the TOA today website to see how my fellow classmen were developing and I found...

This was from my major year illustration class. The choice to put up a painting of a pumpkin and fish is a bit awkward. I can still remember the discomfort analysing the detail of that dead fish. Even so it was always my wish to see my work on display on the college's website and gallery. I achieved both in a year so mebbe I shouldn't beat myself so badly over everything that had happened. The artist has gone but the art remains. :')

A few more weeks and I would have completed my second year of art college.

The Antisocial Life of a Workaholic

I am OT-ing in the office. Because. I don't feel like going home. And my net has been struck by lightning. I'm admittedly addicted to work because it provides me with this kind of security from the troubles of the outside world and every time I accomplish something, it gives me a kick. By the time I get home, I just wanna shower, eat and chill with a book or a movie. I LOVE a good yum cha session when I don't feel so tired though.

Can you believe I haven't really talked to my mum (other than Hi and Good Night) for weeks now? I've been putting off lunch appointments because I have a lot of things to follow up in the office. Granma's in out the hospital nearly every fortnight. I only get to visit her on the weekends when I really have spare time.

I wonder how everyone else is doing at TOA. There's stress at work but at least you don't need to bring it back home (homework! :P). I'm really enjoying this break from studying. Not much of regrets. I kinda thought that I might join a local art college (PIA maybe) and complete my diploma when everything else has settled. Apparently, there're emerging more art galleries in Ipoh. I feel pretty inspired. My Japanese sensei owns her own art gallery and we have our lessons there. Her kids are really cool too.

My Nikon is waiting to be admitted to the camera hospital. *sigh*

My sister went to Kampar with Xian. I shall send psychic waves to her wishing that she brings back egg tarts.

Self Portrait.

Geez. The only thing in proportion is my nose! 70% done.

Here I go distracted again. I should like, really spend all my life drawing. How can I not acknowledge its therapeutic properties. That was the reason why I wanted to marry my job in the first place! LOL. We have a deep connection, we have fun, we share the same interests and get along well (even though we might get fed up if we see each other too much). It makes me happy whenever I'm sad, angry, frustrated, accepts the ugly side of me and brings out the best in me. Best of all, it keeps me company and will never leave me.

I made 2 days worth of spaghetti bolognese for 2. Apparently, my cooking skills are still not to be messed with despite being unactive since my UK days. I've been severely pampered since I got back; everyone else around me cooks really well and all I had to do was just eat. Cis my dream of a bf who cooks superb food has flown out the window. In the end, you'd just have to rely on yourself. Wished I could post more food pictures. The lighting in my apartment is shabby, not to mention another lightbulb just burnt out (thanks to my cheapskate landlord).

I shall continue with homework.
